Our Story....

At U Create Art Studio in Brisbane, our mission is to inspire creativity, nurture imagination, and provide the tools and guidance to help every individual discover their artistic potential. From visual art programs, creative workshops, art and craft classes, parties, events, and arts education, we offer something for everyone—kids, adults, beginners, and seasoned creatives alike.

Founded by Karen Bessell, U Create Art reflects her energy, passion, and endless ideas. Karen brings a fresh perspective to every session, ensuring the creative atmosphere is always vibrant, engaging, and different each week. She previously founded The Gap She Shed, a social group designed to bring together the local community—young women, retirees, new mums, and everyone in between—through creativity and connection.

At U Create Art, we believe in unlocking natural curiosity, encouraging exploration, and fostering self-expression through art. We embrace cross-generational learning, offering art classes for children, teens, and adults of all ages, from pre schoolers to over 50s. We also host private art functions for those wanting a unique and personal creative experience.

Our studio is located in the leafy suburb of The Gap, just 10km from the Brisbane CBD, in the Basement of The Gap Baptist Church (next to 7/11). The light-filled, air-conditioned space includes all-ability access, convenient parking, and a tranquil courtyard garden—creating the perfect environment to learn, laugh, share, and let creativity flow.

Community and connection is at the heart of U Create Art. We regularly support local initiatives through community workshops, mural painting, P&C fundraising, and events. We’re proud to have earned a 100% 5-Star Google Review rating backed by glowing client feedback, a true reflection of the impact art has on wellbeing and connection.

Karen is also an active member of The Hands On Art Artists Registry and The Gap Creative Inc., further strengthening U Create’s ties to Brisbane’s creative community.
