ART STUDIO LOCATION

1125 Waterworks Road, The Gap, 4061. Next to 7/11 Petrol Station.

PARKING

The studio car park is in front of the Church. Please park in the spaces around the perimeter marked with white bricks and do not park in the center as this restricts access. Additional 'on street parking' is available on waterworks road or there is a free council park and ride carpark across the road on the corner or Illowara street & waterworks road by the traffic lights.

STUDIO ACCESS

To access the studio take the path to the left of the church and follow the flags down and around.

Please take care when wet in case the path is slippery.

Cancellation - Full refund will be given pro rata with 7 days notice

7 - 3 days - A Full credit will be issued with 12 months date of usage

2 days and less - NO REFUND OR credit but you may swap your place with a friend

In the event of class cancellation due to unforeseen circumstances, safety lockdowns, school procedures, sickness of staff etc a FULL CREDIT will be offered against your account

or a FULL refund applied.

Missed Classes - If you are sick or absent you are welcome to join another U Create class within the same term to make up the missed class. These classes will be with other students and might mean they are doing their make up project quietly supervised whilst teaching continues.

1 x make up class is offered per term for absence due to personal holidays

U Create wants to ensure everyone is first and foremost SAFE and HAPPY. We aim to provide a respectful, patient and creative learning environment.

To achieve this we have set out the following guidelines and to put your mind at ease. These will be reminded to the students at the beginning of each term,

1) No running in the art studio or classroom

2) No bad language, teasing or upsetting other students

3) No sharing snacks to avoid anyone getting sick from an allergy - so we do ask no nuts please

4) No helping friends with their artwork unless they ask

5) Hot Glue - you might use this at home but for your safety only high school students are allowed to use independently.

6) Zero tolerance for disrespectful, violent, and disobedient behavior.

First warning) the child will be given a verbal warning,

Second warning) the child will be asked to go an a short time out for reflection

Third warning) If the behavior escalates or continues the parents will be called and asked to collect the child. You will not be given a refund for this class.

Please ensure you come and chat with Karen and make us aware of any gender, behavior concerns or medical conditions that may require some additional support and consideration.

This is to ensure their happiness is met.

Quite simply Art can be messy. We have aprons for everyone to use but this may not stop accidents happening, so our advice is come in old clothes. After school clubs, we suggest changing out of school uniform or just slipping on an old shirt or T-shirt.

Acrylic paint is a fantastic quality art material but it does stain material. In the event of an accidental stain soak in cold water first with stain remover.

I know its QLD and its hot but please also ensure the children come in COVERED shoes to avoid accidents to toes!

Sip and Paint for adults please pop your gorgeous handbags, jackets, coats etc in the lockers by the door to avoid accidental damage.

U Create Art does not accept liability to soiled clothes or personal property.

U Create is a busy studio and so we ask that you arrive on time for art classes.

The class will start and finish promptly so you will need to prepare your child for the expectation that their project may end up unfinished - but why not take it home and enjoy the chance to finish it there. It really doesn't matter if you have different art supplies....be creative, inventive and explore the chance to make it your own.

If you are arriving late to collect your child please send a text as often we are teaching an unable to pick up the phone. Pick up time is busy with parents often wanting to touch base so please be patient. Your child will be asked to wait for you on the sofa if the next class is starting.

After 10 mins you will be charge $10 for every subsequent 10 minutes that you are late collecting.

Arriving late for a Sip and Paint - the class will start promptly so if you arrive late just ask your neighbor the steps to catch up.

Birthday parties - These will start and finish on the allocated time. Late guests may miss one or two of the activities but can take the materials home with them at the end.

Yes.

After the start of term fees are simply adjusted on a pro-rata basis.

Our online booking system shows our availability in real time. This means that if a class displays a 'book now' or 'login to enrol' button then there are still places available. As soon as the last place in the class is filled, it will automatically display 'booked out'. Our system does not show classes that have limited places, so if you would like to enquire about how many places are still available please phone our office.

The U Create Art Studio is located in the basement of The Gap Baptist Church, 1125 Waterworks Road, 4061.

It is a fully working art studio, a flexible and intimate space offering a vibrant, funky, creative venue to enjoy your workshops or private functions.

The U Create Studio has:

30 x art easels.
30 x stacking chairs
10 x fixed tables to seat 25.
3 x folding trestle tables are also available.
Art sink for clean up
Kitchen area: Fridge, Kettle, Microwave, China and glassware
The Art Garden for waiting parents or break times for kids.
Neon Sign and Party lights
Spotify Premium and Speaker
All ability toilet & baby changing facilities

TOILETS

These are located upstairs within the church - access upstairs through the studio or outside via all access path for prams or wheelchairs. We ask that you respect these shared facilities are clean the sink after you have washed your hands of all the paint!! LOL

DROP AND GO

U Create birthday parties and kids art workshops are recommended as 'drop and go' as there is limited additional space within the studio for adults to wait. We also find having waiting parents can affect the behavior of the children, of course if your child suffers from anxiety please let us know and we will work together to accommodate their needs.

Families and guests are welcome to wait in the art garden where there is garden seating for 15. In poor weather & rain we recommend the fabulous cafes at The Gap village for a coffee and a chat - our personal favorite is "Happy Days" the food and coffee is YUMMMMM

Art is an amazing creative adventure......but like baking its often unpredictable. We can all have the same ingredients, recipes and steps to follow but through our choices and exploration come out with different results....and YEA TO THAT

We love individual expression, you might end up with something less structured or abstract but hey who doesn't love the Impressionist paintings? Or the free splashing fun of a Jackson Pollock!!

Tears from younger artists do happen I'm afraid, dealing with frustration, anxiety and expectations is even hard for adults. We are ok with that.....we have the budgies and fish they can head off to calm down with. Cushions on the couch to take a 5 min break.....often a change of scenery is all that it takes.

U Create celebrates the artists in us all. We don't want 20 copy cat, cookie cutter, creations we want your individual take. So if things are all little different than someone else's lets celebrate those unique elements.
