Okay… this feels HUGE and honestly a little bit full-circle magic

I don’t know how many of you know my creative backstory… but buckle up — because I’m about to start sharing the last 20 years of my creative life with you.

My degree wasn’t just “art school cute.” It was an Honours Degree in Contemporary Art — and it was wild, immersive, multi-disciplinary, rule-breaking magic.

Think: paint + performance + dance + sound + music + big feelings

My work back then? - Live installation pieces. - Creating in real time. - Messy. Expressive......In the moment.

Art with an audience breathing alongside me.
And honestly? - It’s where I felt most alive.

After exhibiting for the past two years at the incredible Brisbane Art & Eats Event, I’ve been invited back this year to do something next level…

A LIVE PAINTING PERFORMANCE. ON STAGE. IN FRONT OF EVERYONE.
Yep.
Big canvas.
Big brushes.
Big colour.
Music pumping.
Crowd energy.
Total creative chaos (the good kind).

I’ll be painting a large-scale artwork inspired by the sounds, atmosphere and creative buzz of the event — responding in real time, letting the paint fly, trusting instinct, and basically returning to my performance-art roots.

It’s raw. It’s joyful. It’s a little bit scary. And it’s 100% me.
And honestly? .......
I want you there cheering, laughing, soaking it all up with me.
Because art isn’t meant to be watched quietly.
It’s meant to be felt. together.
- Come for the food
- Stay for the vibes
- And watch me throw paint around like my 21-year-old art-school self again

These shiny, happy humans got cutting, pasting, painting and dreaming as we created BECOMING Boards to kick-start 2026.

Last night’s U Create Sip & Paint was something really special — Laughing Kookaburra 🤍

Art has always been a way to connect, reflect and share stories. In the lead-up to Australia Day, I was inspired by the native kookaburra — a bird often associated with joy, connection and a deep sense of place.

As an immigrant myself, it felt important to approach this thoughtfully — honouring all Australians while respectfully acknowledging the continuing cultures, stories and custodianship of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

The pattern work within this piece is a gentle nod to the beauty of Indigenous art traditions — not to replicate, commercialise or claim — but to acknowledge, learn from and recognise the importance of First Nations voices, history and culture.

Painting together last night with big household brushes was pure joy. We leaned into softness and movement, inspired by Bob Ross’ calm, blended approach to colour and atmosphere.

Honestly, one of my favourite pieces I’ve ever taught — for the art, the conversations, and the shared respect in the room.

Our 3D beach posters are honestly everything and capture the heart of an Aussie summer ☀️

Think long beach days under a shady umbrella, salty surf sessions, splashing in the ocean, sandy hands building epic sandcastles and those carefree hours hanging out by the coast.

Child safety is taken extremely seriously at U Create Art Studio. All 18+ staff hold current Blue Cards and junior art casuals will also apply for cards this month in line with the new requirements. We follow safeguarding policies and procedures in line with Queensland Government Child Protection Services guidelines.

Instead of paint-splattered aprons and high energy, I settled in to deliver another online workshop — this time for the Women’s Institute in the UK. They were happily sipping morning tea while I enjoyed a sneaky Friday night wine… well, it was 8pm my time!

With the UK wrapped in a fresh blanket of snow, it felt perfectly fitting to paint a winter watercolour of delicate snowdrops together — calm, quiet and oh-so-lovely.
